ForeverFriends.panel

Social media is now an indispensable, inescapable part of growing up. But for all the benefits of infinite connections with virtual friends, potentially from across the globe, there are also well-publicised tragedies of teenage self-harm linked to online forums, cyber bullying and crazes such as Neknominate.  As young people form thousands of ‘friendships’ on social-media sites, where does free expression for teenagers end and adult authority begin? Should parents expect or endorse social-media moderators to sit in loco parentis, watching over their kid’s online chatting and stepping in when things get out of hand? Filmed at the Battle of Ideas the panel address an area of increasing concern.
