Six years on from the depths of the financial crisis, no Western economy has returned to pre-crisis growth levels. Many European economies are bumping along as policymakers continue printing money to prop up asset markets. Emergency measures like quantitative easing and bank bailouts are now the default economic strategy on both sides of the Atlantic. Yet China is chided for easy money policies with dire warnings of a yuan-denominated credit bubble. Do we need to worry about a debt crisis in the East?
