The crisis of diplomacy in the era of Trump

Last year President Trump used his arrival at a NATO summit in Brussels to lambast Germany’s relationship with Russia. He used the same trip to Europe to take a dig at Theresa May’s Brexit strategy and seemingly side with Vladimir Putin, against America’s own intelligence agencies. But while Trump has developed a reputation for rather undiplomatic language, he is not alone. Could the decline of diplomacy create dangers in the future and increase the risk of war? The speakers in this debate filmed at the Battle of Ideas share their insights about what some are calling a new political era.

The speakers are: Mary Dejevsky, Professor Bill Duroide, Dr. Sean Lang, and Carne Ross. The chair is Joel Cohen.
