1:18

Lorraine Martins thumb FWB

Lorraine led a multi-award winning team in the Olympic Park construction, its infrastructure, venues and facilities. She also championed local people to help them gain employment and to inspire them to become engineers and benefit from the largest regeneration project in Europe.

This interview was filmed and edited by WORLDbytes volunteers for the WISE (Women in Science Technology & Engineering) 2014 Awards night and screened to an audience of over 500 including HRH the Princess Royal who presented the trophies. Filming was made possible thanks to support from Bloomberg. Full versions of all interviews have also been edited by volunteers & provided to WISE to feature on their website.

This is so wonderful that Loranine got her community involved in this huge regeneration project. We need more leaders like her to inspire others to bring about positive social change.

Great stuff! But in this day and age why do people in construction need to be commended for seeing the ‘true worth and skills of women’??
